Special Report:  First 90 days in Venezuela
Overview and Copyright Information
Greetings from Barquisimeto, Venezuela!  We got here January 16th.  The first 10 weeks here in
Venezuela have been tremendous.  We have traveled in every direction and met thousands of people.
The second week here we assumed the leadership as the new National Director of
Global University
Venezuela
.  We were asked by the national leadership to take over this ministry.  We agreed to lead it
for one year and then we will evaluate.  So far it has been amazing!  We are putting resources into the
hands of more than 200 pastors and over 300 college level students.  Before agreeing to do the
ministry, I had to know that I would not be "locked in an office all week."  In the next 90 days I will be
speaking at District Councils, doing jungle ministry, a youth retreat, hosting our second undergrad level
cohort, preaching in small country churches and in mega churches.  I am maximizing our evangelism
resources, discipleship and children's sunday school resources, and publicizing our undergrad
programs.  Visit
Global University for more info.  Monday, March 16, was a memorial day for us.  While
visiting one of our learning centers, (not preaching), we saw the first Venezuelan come to Christ!
Sunday, April 12 I will preach my first sermon here.  I asked the Venezuelans to please allow me until
April before I would be available to travel and preach.  This was wisdom from above.  I also promised
the Global office staff that I would not change anything for the first 6 weeks; again wisdom.  The first 90
days were truly needed to transition to a country with new laws, new ministry styles, an extremely
different accent than the Costa Ricans, and as a missionary learn my boundaries with the national
church.  A new and old missionary must always be cautious not to press his own desires above God's
will for a nation and the vision of the national church there; but rather, fit himself into it and help propel
true indigenous church principles.  Sounds good, but challenging to do.  Angela and the boys are well.
Prodigy Place, our home school is doing well.  Angela is a great teacher and our students, i.e., our
sons...they are oozing with energy!  Please keep us in your prayers.  We do not have visas and there
are none available.  Every 90 days we have to leave the country to renew our "tourist visa."  This is
costly for a family of five.  But in all of this, God's plan for us is perfect.  Thanks for visiting us online
and stay in touch by email!  Keep an eye on our Teams page to see about upcoming team
opportunities in 2010.
